Mubama turns down contract extension?
|
Just saw on twitter. Don't know if at all accurate.
Unless he's had his heart set on a move regardless for some time and there's nothing we could have done anyway, then this is absolutely maddening. If it's down to not getting game time then i really don't blame him. On the face of it, it's an utter joke how little he's played this season.

Maybe he hasn't played because he wants out.
But I doubt it, seems to love the club. Must be fucking frustrating not getting on the pitch for some minutes.

Would be typical, how long has he got left?

He's only a month older than Callum Marshall, who seems a better prospect and will probably be above him in the pecking order soon. And that's behind the two useless old duffers ahead of them both. Wouldn't blame either of them for wanting out unless there's a change of manager soon.

the games I've seen of marshall, he's always looked more like a bowen type of forward who can drift in from either side. I don't blame any player wanting to get away from him, there's no path to minutes because of his favouritism towards certain individuals

There are no similarities at all between their statures or the way Mubama and Marshall play. Thought I read Marshall unlikley to sign an extension too?

Imagine coming through the youth ranks as a forward playing some lovely football, with your team mates hoping you get on the end of their created chances or your team mates creating space for you to attack with the ball at your feet to then be expected to repeat your good form playing Moyesball….rarely touching/seeing the ball….

Big shame if he leaves, I had high hopes for him and it felt like the club did too.
He clearly loves the club from the interviews he has done to date so you would guess its down to a lack of playing time.
Real shame - but its likely he will end up like Perkins who is currently at Oxford on loan. We haven't really regretted letting any of our youngsters go for a while.

They need to be told one thing….go the Defoe route….drop down a couple of divisions to a club that plays to their style and kick on from there…instead they mainly give it Charlie big bollocks too soon tbf…

Has there been a single holdout from the Academy who has gone on to play regularly in the prem? I can't think of one. I also don't blame the players who want a shot at a lower division or another league. This doesn't have to mean mismanagement. It could just be in the interest of both parties.

The dinosaur tactician doesn't use players costing millions what chance a youngster.

Stanislas never played regularly in the prem. Cullen could become something but odds are Burnley are going down this season. The point still stands that I don't think we've let go or lost anyone who would improve us. I'm honestly not sure how effective the academy can be anymore for developing first team players. The gap between that and the premier league is simply too big of a step. I really hope I'm wrong about that, but it's definitely a concern given the way all premier league teams are acquiring talent all over Europe and by extension the world.

Often hear ‘no players we let go have gone on to better things’ comments in these discussions.
Although on the whole that’s true, I do wonder if in all cases that’s because of the way their talent has been wasted at such a crucial time in their development.
No way of proving either way, but I won’t be convinced some of the ones we’ve let go could have had much better careers if in the pivotal part of their learning they were given a better chance.
Bette chance means better coaching, more game time in better game situations and with better players around them.
Instead they get league cup games with other fringe players, or a few minutes when a game is already won/lost.
It won’t change until either our managers are incentivised differently, or we get one that actually cares about the future of the club and the players

he mismanages senior professionals with international experience. these kids aren't stupid, and will see what goes on with the way he runs things and even the thickest ones will see zero paths to games or progression while he's in charge. I hate this "They've all been shit" argument, to excuse his lack of coaching ability or foresight

None of us know if he’s actually that good. He did well in the U21’s but he’s very raw and unpolished. Saying that, he seems to have the right attitude, works hard and is willing to learn. He’s shown enough to be given more of a chance than he has. Plus he’s more in the mould of Antonio than Ings is and might just fit our system better.
He may not be the answer but at least ask the question.
I agree that Marshall is the better prospect but even he must wonder if he’ll ever get a chance. Look at Armstrong at Brighton. Only 18 but they trust him.

Moyes is from the Hansen old school thinking “You can’t win anything with kids”.
He did give Rooney his debut at 16 though, not sure he’s never mentioned that.
